Die Casting

Die Cast

The production brings the design to reality.  PDC’s skilled operators and precision die casting machines consistently produce high-quality parts in multiple Aluminum Alloys, Zinc and Brass. With experienced die casters operating around the clock, you can expect your parts when you need them.

Pacific Die Casting has one of the largest assortments of large diecast machines in the Western United States.  With 19 machines over 500 tons , PDC has the capability of producing parts up to 25 pound parts.  Our large range of die cast machines affords us an abundance of production capacity and permits us to be responsive to customer’s lead times.

Aluminum Die Casting

Aluminum die casting has been a specialty of Pacific Die Casting since its founding.  Pacific Die Casting has 24 aluminum die casting machines ranging from 250-1200 tons in our Commerce facility and 8 die cast machines ranging from 250-650 tons in our Tecate facility.  Our 32 aluminum die cast machines give us the flexibility of running small and large parts in low and high volumes.

Characteristics of aluminum alloys:

  • Light weight
  • High dimensional stability for complex shapes and thin walls
  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Good mechanical properties
  • High thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Great strength at high temperatures

Brass Die Casting

Pacific Die Casting casts many fine brass light fixtures, brass door handles, brass latches, etc.  Requiring temperatures of approximately 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, brass die casting is often not within the typical die caster’s capabilities. However, Pacific Die Casting is knowledgeable and experienced in mold making and die casting brass alloys.

Characteristics of brass alloys:

  • High strength
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Heat resistant
  • High conductivity
  • Beautiful look
  • Complex and precise shapes in high quantities at low prices

Zinc Die Casting

There are many advantages to running parts in zinc alloys and Pacific Die Casting’s knowledgeable personnel can educate you on the benefits of casting in zinc.  Zinc’s physical properties make it an ideal alloy for engineers.  Zinc also has a fine surface finish which makes it ideal for plating or powder coating.  In addition, the ability of zinc to be cast with thin walls customers to design parts that could not typically be diecast in other alloys.  Run your zinc parts in Pacific Die Casting’s high production hot chamber die casting machines.

Characteristics of zinc alloys:

  • High ductility, impact strength, and tensile strength
  • Dimensional precision
  • Easily plated
  • Economical for small parts
  • Low melting point
  • Long die life
