Permanent Mold Casting
The process of permanent die-casting involves use of two molds. These molds are joined together and the heated metal is molded when poured into the molds. Some of the metals used in permanent mold casting are aluminum, zinc, tin and lead. After the molten metal is cooled down, the parts of the mold are then separated to get the finished product. Either the products can be removed manually or using a flash grind, as the finished products might contain metal extrusions. The permanent mold casting process is mostly used to mold non-ferrous metals. Acetylene soot is coated to the steel cavities to extend the life of the tools.
Die Casting
Die-casting is the process employed for molding metals using high or low pressures. Previously, low-pressure methods were utilized for die-casting. However, Mexican die casters use high-pressure die casting for the creation of complex shapes and products. The high-pressure method ensures that the finished products have excellent precision while offering smoother finishing.
The process of die-casting may differ according to the desired results. For a single component, the casting requires only a single cavity. Multiple parts, on the other hand, require multiple cavities for the casting mold. The Die casting process ensures that the metals remain pore free and highly durable.
