Many different varieties of post treatment methods are used for Zinc and Aluminum die casting products. These types of post treatments are usually divided into heat treatment, healing and modification treatment, surface treatment, and packaging and assembly services.
All of these post treatments have their own respective characteristics and a few of them do have severe environment impacts as well. This means that these treatments should be performed only in professional industries or factories, and all of these post treatments are to be performed carefully and proficiently.
Most of the post treatments are a lot costlier when compared to raw die casting products. However, one of the major benefits of post treatments is that the process significantly improves the surface of the die casting products. Post treatments can also reinforces a few casting properties of the product.
Black Hard Anodizing
Black hard anodizing is the only available anodizing method for Aluminum die casting parts. The presence of high Silicon content within the parts makes them unsuitable for color anodizing. The black surface in die casting parts means that the corrosion resistance of the surface is significantly improved. Experts highly recommend black hard anodizing for the casting of outdoor applications.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is a common surface treatment of die casting products. This treatment is used not just as a surface decorative, but also to improve the surface corrosion resistance of the casting products. This process is performed on more than hundreds of products and it shields even the toughest and roughest machineries from corrosion.
Painting and Stoving Varnish
Painting is the general term used for many serial post treatments such as wet painting, stoving varnish, lacquering, and a lot more. Lacquering or wet painting is usually used for the surface prevention and decoration of the die casting parts, whereas stoving varnish is comparatively an expensive process and it is mainly used for decorative die casting parts.
Mirror Polishing and Brushing
Polishing of a die cast product is actually a lot different from buffing. Buffing is another method used for the decoration of die cast products. Common polishing, however, is actually a necessary process that needs to be performed before any other surface treatment methods including stoving varnish, electroplating, or powder coating.
